Rivermead School part of the Rivermead Inclusive Trust is looking to appoint an outstanding, creative, inspirational teacher and leader, with a passion for enabling learners to become the best they can possibly be, to join our Senior Leadership Team in September 2019. 

The candidate appointed will have a key role in the leadership team of the school, taking the lead in special educational needs and pastoral matters. Within a small leadership team there will be outstanding opportunities for a leader aspiring to headship to develop skills and gain experience in all areas of school leadership. S/he should share our ambition that through outstanding teaching and support every learner. S/he will have the ability to inspire colleagues and be able to provide them with the support and guidance that will enable them to develop their skills and achieve excellence. 

Rivermead Special School is well respected and oversubscribed. We are a ‘Good School’ and is very well led. We are proud that our learners, aged between 11 – 19 years, whose complex needs include Autism and Anxiety, develop both social and academic potential and are able to progress successfully to further education and to independent adult life. 

Applicants should have: 

  • a passion for ensuring that all children should be able to achieve their potential whatever their additional needs
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • excellent communication skills
  • a good understanding of teaching aimed at overcoming learner’s barriers to learning due to their special educational needs
  • excellent communication skills
  • an interest in or experience of teaching children with a range of additional needs including autism.
